{"id":162,"date":"2025-07-09T16:20:02","date_gmt":"2025-07-09T14:20:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madrosciradosc.pl\/?p=162"},"modified":"2025-07-08T16:22:25","modified_gmt":"2025-07-08T14:22:25","slug":"3rd-liverpool-summer-school-examines-council-of-europes-effectiveness-in-tackling-pressing-challenges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/madrosciradosc.pl\/?p=162","title":{"rendered":"3rd Liverpool Summer School examines Council of Europe\u2019s effectiveness in tackling pressing challenges"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Key Council of Europe decision-makers, leading academics and other stakeholders are gathering in<strong>&nbsp;Liverpool from 7-18 July<\/strong>&nbsp;for the&nbsp;<strong>third edition of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpool.ac.uk\/media\/livacuk\/law\/2-research\/ilhru\/Summer,School,Programme,-,2025.pdf\">Summer School in the Law of the Council of Europe<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Council of Europe Deputy Secretary General Bj\u00f8rn Berge addressed participants in a keynote speech underlining that in turbulent times, the role of the European Court of Human Rights is the steady compass: \u201cThe European Convention on Human Rights is a shared promise &#8211; 75 years strong &#8211; that human dignity matters, especially when it is difficult.\u201d He also stressed that now more than ever, the Court is \u2018the conscience we all need\u2019: \u201cA conscience that stands firm through political storms, defends rights even in times of war, and stays true to the legal order our nations built together. That is what the Council of Europe defends. And that \u2026 is what makes this Court our steady compass in turbulent times.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof Kanstantsin Dzehtsiarou, Dr Olaf K\u00f6ndgen and Dr Vassilis Tzevelekos welcomed students on the opening day and other speakers included the Rt Hon Lord Hermer KC, Mr Christos Giakoumopoulos and Prof Michele Nicoletti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aim of the Summer School is to offer a comprehensive understanding of the Council of Europe, its effectiveness in protecting human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
